"Aisha Grey Henry is a friend of now many years. The first time that I met her, was in Cambridge, Mass.
I was a very young student of Arabic. I didn't have enough money so I just wanted to see Lane's Legendary Two-Volume masterful Dictionary of The Arabic Language. So I went to see her shop in Cambridge, The Islamic Texts Society.
And she actually had the 2 volumes on the desk. I told her, "I just want to look at the book. I'd love to buy it but I can't afford it."
She said, "how much money do you have?" I looked in my pocket, and I had 10 quid. So she said, "Just give me 10 pounds."
I gave her 10 pounds, and I think it (the dictionary) was 55 pounds at the time.
She gave me this 2 volume (dictionary), which I still have in my library; It was over 20 years ago. We've been friends ever since. It's a good way of gaining a friend quickly, being generous."
